The East Anglian region of the GCMA represents clubs in Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire .
Activities within the region include two business meetings per year (Spring and Autumn). Our AGM usually follows our Spring Meeting, although this year it was held as a "Zoom" meeting. We also hold educational seminars.
During the year we host a Guest Day where members can invite their Club Captain or executive from their Board.
We play matches against other regions from April to September, and a match against Suffolk Captains. The format is usually a fourball better ball matchplay, played in a friendly but quite competitive atmosphere. An ideal opportunity to build friendships and useful networks.
Being a member of GCMA you are able to join any region and may belong to more than one if you wish. If you are interested in joining please complete the contact form.
Welcome to a new beginning for the GCMA & East Anglia.
Monday 28th June at Bury St Edmunds Golf Club 09.30.am
In light of what has happened to us all since March last year this coming meeting will be like the rebirth of our organisation and our first real get together since our October meeting in 2019 at Gog Magog Golf Club.
Firstly, it will be a great opportunity for us to physically meet and network along with finally meeting the fellow managers we have been chatting, discussing and planning with on the WhatsApp platform. I really hope members will make a concerted effort to come along if only for the morning meeting if constrained by time.
Secondly and perhaps more significantly we will have our “new” CEO Tom Brook, National Captain David Carlisle and Commercial manager Craig Cotterill attending. Tom will give a short presentation on his vision for the GCMA over the next 5 years and following on will have an open forum which Tom David and Craig are all happy to be involved. This is a great opportunity almost to have a “live” WhatsApp type meeting which I truly believe will be interesting, challenging but helpful and constructive in the way forward for all of us within the golf industry.
So, if you haven’t already returned your answer following the meeting invitation I would ask you to do so a.s.a.p. even if it’s only for the meeting but also please respondeven if you cannot make it.
With over 100 members now in our region and 84 on the WhatsApp group and taking the above into consideration, I would be very disappointed if we did not get a bumper turnout.
After all the hassle of the last 18 months – give yourself a day amongst friends, which I honestly believe will be both an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
We will also be joined by four of our local sponsors. After the AGM, Philip Vince Majestic Crystal will give a short presentation and is supplying todays prize table. Also, in attendance to network amongst you will be Nigel Illingworth of Ground 2 Control, Paul Nunny of Cask Marque who is sponsoring the wine for the evening meal and Matt Smith Club Systems who has the unenviable job of taking over the rains from Neil McCluskey.
As you can no doubt see we have a first class cast for our first physical meeting since October 2019, but we need the most important people – YOU - the audience.
Please see attached the agenda for the day attached along with the AGM Documents.
Thank you and hope to greet you at Bury St Edmunds along with our Captain Mike Verhelst
